Five generations of Ballarat glaziers.

Robson Glass opened in Ballarat in 1909, when WJ Robson, an apprentice lead lighter from England, set up his own studio and grew it into a full glazing business. Five generations on, we’re still family-run, still on the same premises, and still doing the work by hand where it matters. Today a team of around 14 looks after everything from a cracked window to double glazing your whole home, and we treat both with the same respect.

Do you charge for a quote?

A first estimate is free, and so is a measure within our local area. For simple jobs we can usually give you an estimate over the phone first. After-hours emergency call-outs do carry a fee, quoted upfront.

How quickly can you replace a broken window?

For most windows we can replace the glass the same day. We keep large sheet glass in stock, so turnaround is fast, shopfronts included.

Can you retrofit double glazing to my existing windows?

In most cases, yes. We fit double-glazed units straight into your existing timber or aluminium frames, so you keep your windows and their character. Around 90% of homes can be done, a few frame types (like tilt-and-turn and some aluminium sliders) aren’t suitable, and we’ll tell you honestly when we come out to measure.

Are you a real local business, or a lead-gen site?

We’re as local as it gets, trading in Ballarat since 1909, five generations of the same family, from a shopfront you can walk into today. That’s not something a website posing as local, or a bloke in a ute, can say. Come in and shake our hand, or ring the shop and you’ll get one of the team, not a call centre.

Do you do insurance work?

Yes, we handle insurance jobs. That said, many glass jobs work out cheaper paid direct once you factor in the excess, so we’ll help you weigh it up honestly rather than just push a claim.
