Can you double glaze my existing windows?
In most cases, yes. We fit double glazed units straight into your existing timber or aluminium frames, so you keep your windows and their character. Around 90% of homes can be retrofitted. A few types, like tilt-and-turn windows and some aluminium sliders, are not suitable, and we will tell you honestly when we come out to measure.
How much does retrofit double glazing cost?
Every home is different, so we quote after a free measure rather than publish a price list. As a guide, our retrofit double glazing usually comes in at a fraction of what the patented systems charge, because we focus on the glazing that makes the difference and skip the extras you can do yourself.
Can you retrofit double glazing to timber sash windows?
Yes. Timber windows, including double-hung and sash, are some of our most common retrofit jobs, and keeping the original timber frame is exactly what helps a period home hold its character.
Can you double glaze sliding doors and French doors?
Yes. Sliding doors and French doors can usually be retrofitted with double glazed units, the same as most windows. We will confirm when we come out to measure.
Will it actually make my home warmer and quieter?
Yes. Argon-filled double glazed units noticeably cut heat loss, draughts, condensation and outside noise compared with single glazing. Adding a Low-E coating can push the thermal performance further if you want it.
Do I have to replace my whole window frames?
No. That is the point of retrofitting. We reglaze into your existing frames rather than tearing them out, which keeps the job cleaner, quicker and more affordable, and keeps your home’s look intact.
How long does it take?
Your made-to-measure units usually take around 2 to 3 weeks, and most installs are done in a single day, a little longer for larger jobs.
Do you charge for a quote?
No. There is no call-out fee to come out, measure and quote. For simple jobs we can often give you an estimate over the phone first.
